ShopTickets ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your customers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our Shopify application.


1. Information We Collect

Store Information

When you install ShopTickets, we collect:

  • Store name and Shopify domain
  • Store owner contact information
  • Access tokens to interact with your store via Shopify API

Customer Information

To provide ticketing services, we collect and store:

  • Customer name and email address from ticket orders
  • Order details including ticket type, quantity, and event information
  • Ticket redemption and validation data

Product and Event Information

  • Ticket product details (names, descriptions, pricing)
  • Event information (dates, times, locations)
  • Inventory and sales data

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Payment card data — All payment processing is handled securely by Shopify. We never collect, store, or process credit card information.
  • Browsing history or tracking data outside of our app
  • Sensitive personal information beyond what's necessary for ticket management

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to provide and improve our ticketing services:

  • Ticket Generation: Create unique tickets with customer information
  • Email Delivery: Send ticket confirmations and updates to customers
  • Ticket Validation: Verify tickets at entry points and prevent fraud
  • Merchant Support: Help you manage events, track sales, and assist customers
  • Service Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to enhance app functionality
  • Compliance: Meet legal obligations and enforce our terms of service

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.


3. Data Retention and Deletion

While You Use ShopTickets

We retain customer ticket data for as long as you actively use our app. This allows you to access historical ticket information, manage events, and provide customer support.

When You Uninstall ShopTickets

When you uninstall our app, we delete or anonymize your store's customer data within 30–60 days. This includes:

  • Customer names and email addresses
  • Order and ticket details
  • Event information linked to your store

We may retain aggregated, anonymized data for analytics and service improvement. This data cannot be used to identify you or your customers.

Data Subject Requests

If a customer requests deletion of their personal data, you can contact us to facilitate this request. We will delete or anonymize the customer's data within 30 days of verification.


4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL and at rest using AES-256 encryption
  • Access Controls: Strict authentication and authorization protocols limit data access to authorized personnel only
  • Secure Infrastructure: Our application runs on secure, monitored cloud infrastructure with regular security updates
  • Regular Audits: We conduct security reviews and monitor for vulnerabilities
  • Data Isolation: Each merchant's data is logically separated and cannot be accessed by other merchants

While we take extensive precautions, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but remain committed to protecting your information.


5. Third-Party Services

ShopTickets integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Shopify: Our app operates within the Shopify platform and uses Shopify APIs to access store data. Shopify's privacy policy applies to data they collect.
  • Hosting Provider (Render): Our application is hosted on Render's secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Email Services: We may use third-party email services to send ticket confirmations and updates to customers.

We carefully vet all third-party service providers and ensure they maintain appropriate security and privacy standards. We only share the minimum necessary data required for these services to function.


6. Your Rights and Choices

As a merchant using ShopTickets, you have the following rights:

  • Access: Request access to the data we store about your store and customers
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data by uninstalling the app or contacting us directly
  • Export: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Restriction: Request limitation of how we process your data

Your customers may also have rights under applicable privacy laws (such as GDPR, CCPA). You are responsible for honoring these requests and can contact us for assistance.


7. Compliance with Privacy Laws

ShopTickets is designed to comply with major privacy regulations including:

  • GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) for European users
  • CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) for California residents
  • PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) for Canadian users
  • Shopify's App Store Requirements for data protection and privacy

We process data lawfully based on our legitimate business interests, contractual necessity, and your consent where required.


8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers, including standard contractual clauses and compliance with applicable data protection laws.

ShopTickets is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Posting a notice in the app
  • Sending an email notification for material changes
